What they got from the homeless man was confirmation that Eisuke's dad is CIA (which was something they already suspected) and that Mizunashi Rena shot him (which isn't relevant right now).
The things they're mainly working from right now is that Eisuke approached a member from the black organization by hearing the boss's ringtone, which is information Conan got from Ran.

unfortunately you're almost entirely incorrect. data, confirmation, rumor, innuendo, supposition, deduction, induction, everything an investigation requires was provided by that homeless guy. he's a 'key witness', his information ties together all the 'loose ends' that Conan and the FBI had. the homeless guy proved Kir was beat up, and shot Hondou senior. he also proved Kir Vodka and Gin were comrades, and he also proved that Hondou's 'partner' who arrived later on was shot by Vodka or Gin.

you apparently forgot the entire conversation shown 'on the road' inside Vodka's Porche and Chianti's Dodge Viper amongst Vermouth et. al. about Kir's Baptism by Blood into the Black Org. Kir at that time was merely an applicant and not officially in the BO. Hondou senior was also an applicant to the BO because he hadn't infiltrated deep enough. the BO knew Hondou Sr. was a rat and possible spy. according to Gin the BO's version of the story was 'we knew he was a mole for somebody and we were about to catch and interrogate him. but he got away and Kir made a mistake and was captured by that guy while he was escaping.' (i presently forget Hondou Sr. cover ID with the BO) Gin continued, 'he beat her up bad, breaking ribs and such. but she didn't talk, she bit into the guy's wrist and shot him with his own gun. that's when Vodka and i came in but all she could say over and over was, "i didn't talk. i didn't talk." later on some other guy came in and cried over the body saying "Hondou, Hondou, Hondou" over and over before we shot him. i don't know if that guy on the floor was Hondou or what, but we took care of one rat and his friend. after that the Boss approved her position in the BO and gave her the name 'Kir' '

so, almost everything WE knew as the audience of Kir getting into the BO and receiving her name from that BO conversation is PROVEN to the FBI and Conan who didn't know SQUAT about that incident. THAT's why the homeless guy is so important.

as to the Eisuke stuff hearing the BO mail address you're right about that. but! all Eisuke did was prove an agent for the BO was there at Kir's hospital and that's who Eisuke got in contact with. Eisuke didn't disprove any CIA involvement with the hospital or with Eisuke himself as the son of dead agent Hondou.
